Steps to make Student Meal: Turmeric Fried Chicken (Ayam Goreng Kunyit):
  1. Lightly score the back of the chicken, this helps cook the chicken all the way to the middle.
  2. Rub marinade onto the chicken and let it rest for 30 minutes minimum. You don't need to use it all, just enough to cover the chicken.
  3. Heat the oil in a wok on medium heat until hot and then fry the chicken skin side down first. Do not move the chicken for 2 to 3 minutes. Then fry the other side.
  4. Once both sides are cooked, lift the and let it rest for 10 minutes before serving.
  5. NOTE; if you are using chicken breast, it is important to score the back and cook the back 3 minutes minimum. Alternatively, you can butterfly the breast so that the middle cooks evenly. Chicken breast are notorious for being underdone in the middle so be mindful.
