  1. Get 3 cups Idli rice or preferably par boiled rice
  2. Get 1 cup split black lentil(urad dal)
  3. Take 1 fist cooked rice
  4. Take to taste salt
Instructions to make Idli recipe:
  1. Soak rice and lentils in separate water for about to 5-6 hours
  2. Grind lentil and cooked rice to fine smooth paste and rice little coarse
  3. Mix well both the ground ingredients and salt, add enough water to form batter of thick dropping consistency
  4. Cover it and keep it in a warm place to ferment over night
  5. Next morning give a good whisk to batter and steam idlis in steamer.. Serve hot with chutney / sambhar
