Cincinnati chili isn't supposed to taste like traditional chili ! And this recipe just tasted like chili to me (it's actually a delish crock pot chili recipe, just not Cincinnati-style flavor.) Too much tomato and too much chili powder. I'll definitely try it again because the texture of the meat and the consistency of the chili is spot on! Although this isn't the chili I was brought up on it is very good.

Steps to make Crockpot Cincinnati Chili:
  1. Brown ground beef and garlic together. Place in crockpot.
  2. Add in the rest of the ingredients EXCEPT for the bay leaves spaghetti and toppings.
  3. Stir to combine and add in bay leaves.
  4. Cover slow cooker and cook on LOW for 4- 5 hours. Once done cooking, removed bay leaves.
  5. Serve over spaghetti noodles and top with cheese and red onions.

I'll definitely try it again because the texture of the meat and the consistency of the chili is spot on! Although this isn't the chili I was brought up on it is very good. The Seasonings: Chili powder and cumin are required for almost any chili recipe, but in Cincinnati chili, you'll find cinnamon, allspice, cloves, and possibly nutmeg, paprika, and/or oregano. Worcestershire sauce is also a standard ingredient. It's a combination of a soupy Midwestern stew and traditional Mediterranean spices.
